Happy Super Tuesday ! Hopefully this message won’t be lost in today’s political coverage. No wait, I’m already drawing your attention to it, damn tricky media. Okay, well let me make my pitches short and sweet, as Americans we can only take important information in small doses:
I’m hosting my first show at the remodeled and renamed The Citizen this Thursday, the new layout is even more dope than its former namesake. JC newbies Pretty American play their debut show. With Morristown’s Spowder, locals Morus Alba, and finally Darkwing [en route to SXSW, with Sharkmuffin and Dentist] closing things out. Check out the full details here. In my absence, the ever so slick Vidal Sassoon will be spinning Ladies Night at Lucky’s, also by virtue of his immense brain, the scarecrow should be our next President. I’ll be by to put on the Discoball at Lucky’s this Saturday, if you are still itching for some Lionel Richie.
JC Fridays returns, well as you can guess, this Friday, otherwise I wouldn’t be leading up into it. Depicting the current political mood, I am facing a formidable challenge in hosting Desir Decir, Cold Fur and Black Wail at Lucky’s before being summoned to Porta to save the rest of the night. For more on this, check out Thomas Carlson’s of Jersey City Art School‘s cartoon for the two shows, and check out his band Papermaker, along with Sexy Neighbors, and Citizen Blast Kane at Porta. All of the other listing for JC Fridays can be found here. One major note and here is my first appeal to you, about a month ago during the frigid weather, pipes burst at Art House Productions home onMagnolia Ave, essentially flooding and laying a path of destruction through their performance space, offices and gallery space. Luckily, they were able to remove any of the art from the Gallery, but essentially the flood decimated Art House and has put a halt to most of their on-site programming until equipment can be replaced and repairs can be made. With this in mind, I am asking that you consider making a donation to the Art House Productions. Thanks to their many supporters, Art House events are being held at other locations through the city for now.
Although, not facing the same catastrophic situation as Art House, WFMU and freeform radio [no relation to freeform political candidates] begins their annual two-week fundraising Marathon next week. Much like the, Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon’s of the past , DJ’s ravage themselves for weeks raising the operating budget of a commercial free radio station. This Sunday, looking to carb up. WFMU Todd-o-phonic spins at Lucky’s for a Pre-Marathon Industry Night. Expect some treats for some early pledgers. you can do so here at www.wfmu.org
